We have had several enquiries about the possibility of refunds as a result of the cancellation and rescheduling of the Signals Relays and NECAA Championships to Saturday 14th March. The cancellation was beyond our control despite daily site inspections and the course being entirely clear and dry on the Friday. The cold snap overnight and the persistent ice which hadn’t cleared by 12 noon made it unsafe to proceed. We had to consider our duty of care to runners and the insurance implications.
We already had the contingency date of Saturday 14th March agreed prior to the cancellation as pretty much the only free weekend, apart from the English Schools Cross-Country. We would ask that clubs do their best to recruit alternate runners where possible please, if some of your existing entries aren’t available on the new date. You can add or change runners up until the rescheduled date.
As you might appreciate , the late cancellation has meant that we effectively have the costs of two events rather one to contend with as all of our officials and suppliers were already on site: portaloos, medical personnel, chip timing company together with charges for the use of the park and clubhouse. It is therefore not possible to offer blanket refunds.
The plan is likely to be to move permanently to the mid-March date in the future to avoid a repeat of these circumstances.
Thanking you in anticipation of your support.
Kind Regards
Kevin Johnson
